Add Volume to Cheeks & Lips
Volume loss in the face is a common effect of the aging process. The cheek can become flatter and the skin that was once filled out by youthful fat pads droops and sags. Voluma is a new and exciting treatment ideal for patients who would like to treat the loss of facial volume without surgical intervention.
Dr. Chernoff has been a pioneer in the use of dermal fillers cosmetic applications and is one of the FIRST Cosmetic Surgeons in Indiana and California to offer Voluma . His expertise in the use of injections has consequently led to the training and certifying of numerous physicians and nurses.
What is Voluma
Voluma dermal filler is a hyaluronic acid, smooth gel injectable designed to add long-lasting volume to the cheeks, jaw or other areas of the face. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring complex sugar that can be found in the human body.
In this filler, the substance has been modified to provide optimal results by integrating into an individual’s skin and adapting to their unique skin qualities. All skin types can benefit from Juvederm Voluma. The product has recently been FDA-approved as a non-surgical treatment for volume loss in the apple, apex, and hollows of the cheeks.
Benefits of Voluma
Voluma has been shown to last for up to two years, delivering long-lasting improvement of facial volume. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body, allergy testing is not required. When injected, the dermal filler gently lifts the skin and restores volume to the targeted area. In addition to tightening loose, sagging skin on the face, Voluma also minimizes the appearance of wrinkles in the mid-face. The procedure is non-invasive and does not require any downtime, allowing patients to return to their normal daily activity with a noticeably improved, refreshed facial appearance. The procedure is quick and performed safely, right in the office, by a surgeon or trained nurse. Dr. Chernoff is a certified injection specialist with over 20 years of experience training other physicians and nurses in advanced injection techniques. The average treatment takes approximately 15-20 minutes to perform. The length of time required to complete the injections may vary depending on the number of areas being treated. No anesthesia is required during this minimally invasive procedure, although a topical numbing cream will be applied to the injection site. The procedure is virtually painless when performed by a seasoned and qualified professional.
Dr. Chernoff or his certified injectors will carefully plan where the Voluma injections should be made to yield the best results. After injections are made, ice is applied to the area and pressure is placed on the injection site to reduce the risk of bruising.
Following the procedure, patients may experience some slight swelling in the treated area. This is quite normal and temporary. Swelling should subside within one to two hours. Other side effects include mild to moderate bruising, especially in patients who bruise easily. Some patients choose to continue to ice the area for a while after the procedure, though it is permissible to return to work immediately for those that wish to do so.
