Follicular Unit Eyebrow Transplantation
Eyebrows are an important part of facial symmetry. They contribute to the aesthetic appearance of both men and women. Eyebrows frame the eyes and are one of the first facial structures our eyes are drawn to on a person’s face. Follicular Unit Eyebrow Transplantation can often restore eyebrows to their natural youthful appearance.
Eyebrows can lose their natural, full appearance for a variety of reasons: congenital causes, trauma burns, auto accident, chemical or electrical burns, radiation or chemotherapy, medical, autoimmune or systemic disease, obsessive compulsive plucking referred to as Trichotillomania, or from normal aging.
The Eyebrow Transplant Process
Dr. Chernoff harvests hair follicles from the lateral part of the occipital region of your scalp. He selects this area because it contains the greatest number of single hair follicular units with the smallest diameter. Dr. Chernoff’s eyebrow transplant patients have a quick recovery time and no visible scar on your scalp.
Expertise in Eyebrow Design
Proper angulation of the hair follicle is the most important feature of any eyebrow transplant. The hair in the upper part of the central edge of the eyebrow usually points upward to the hairline, while the hair on the lateral aspects points horizontally, towards the ears. The hair in the upper part of the eyebrow should be pointed slightly downward and the lower portion slightly upward, so that they will converge in the middle, forming a slight ridge and resembling the pattern of a feather.
Dr. Chernoff has performed numerous eyebrow transplants with outstanding success.
