Fill in Wrinkles with Radiesse

Fine wrinkles and lines are difficult to treat merely by using moisturizers and nutrient-rich infusions. Dermal fillers can smooth out these small wrinkles because the filler injections add volume. This results in tauter, suppler skin. Radiesse® is one of our favorite dermal fillers because it produces long-lasting results without the side effect of rippling or bumpiness.
Radiesse® is a specialized filler containing calcium hydroxylapatite particles. Unlike acid-based fillers that draw in moisture, it is a more malleable gel that works well with subdermal tissues. The particles act as a scaffold upon which collagen attaches. This means that a customized treatment can be designed to smooth out lines in a localized region of the face.
Candidates for Radiesse® Injections
The ideal candidate will be a mature adult experiencing visual signs of skin aging in the form of wrinkles and moderate facial folds. Thin lines appear near the lips and on the sides of the eyes. Nasolabial folds, the slanted lines between the nose and the corners of the mouth, can also be treated with Radiesse®.
Consultation and Treatment
We will consult with the client beforehand and offer several treatment options. We often suggest Radiesse® because the treatment is very simple, and a single procedure can produce results lasting for quite a long time. No special pre-treatment preparation is required. However, it’s a good idea for the client to refrain from using painkiller medications for several days prior to treatment.
The gel is implanted in the subdermal tissues and immediately stimulates the production of collagen. The gel itself will add volume, and the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres will form a sort of building scaffold upon which attaches both collagen and subdermal tissue. This results in a boost in volume and a desirable reshaping of the tissues, something similar to what is experienced if actual implants are used.
The results begin to show very quickly, and most of our clients realize positive results in just weeks. In most cases, just a single treatment is required regardless of the size of the treatable skin surface.
Advantages and Benefits
The long-lasting results are the greatest benefit. A follow-up or secondary treatment is almost never required. Eventually, Radiesse® particles are flushed from the body, and a repeat treatment will be performed. One of the great advantages of this treatment is the simplicity of the procedure. No superficially applied chemicals are used, no skin is ablated, and no abrasion is performed.
