Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery Patient Testimonial 1:
I was very pleased by the telephone conversations I had with Elle from Dr. Chernoff’s office. One such call I had relayed that I had tried a variety of microderms, light skin tightening procedures and was interested in possibly having a more aggressive skin laser procedure done, so I inquired about the DOT. In discussing it with her I realized my main focus of the time wasn’t so much my skin’s condition as it was the bags under my eyes.
My under eye bags had become more and more of an issue for me and, especially so over the last 2 years. I had to put ice or tea bags on them every morning before work as an attempt to appear less puffy before putting on my makeup. I don’t’ eat a lot of salt and do daily exercise that produces a good sweat, so my bags were not a result of poor diet or other physical needs. It simply had become plain that I had inherited my father’s bags.
I am not a spring chicken; I am 51, though most people think of me as at least 10 years younger. Still the bags bothered me to the point of being an issue. My supportive husband suggested I go ahead with the procedure, and so I inquired further.
A few summers prior I had visited the Chernoff office and had Julia give me an evaluation. She had mentioned that in July they would have a special going on for the eye lift and I had remembered this talk. I mentioned it to Elle on the phone and asked when the next ‘deal’ was going to be. Because of my timing I was able to get the better price and have the procedure done during Thanksgiving Break. I teach, my students are very nosy and I am private about these matters, so I wanted to have ample time to recover and return with only a ‘refreshed’ look and not like I was still recovering. I chose the Wednesday before Thanksgiving for the surgery and I was ready to return the following Thursday. I found that even with caring for myself excellently, it still took a full 7 days until I could cover the leftover pink safely with makeup.
On the day of the procedure I was there by 7am. The clinic is small, private and in downtown Indianapolis. The staff was extremely accommodating and the team reassured me they had been together for years and years. After getting into my gown, the anesthesiologist came in and we became acquainted while ‘walked’ me through what was to follow. He was very patient and gracious with all my questions as was Dr. Chernoff who soon came in. Similarly, he and I spoke of what all would transpire and it became apparent that this team’s sincerity would ensure the experience would be the best possible. Along with this, I went in with the mental attitude that all would turn out great. And when I awoke in my room it was proven to be so.
I had the CO2 laser included in order to tighten the skin under the eye, and this is actually what created the longer duration of time for healing, and not the surgery.
I am a rather hyper-sort and knew part of the recovery procedure was to take about 3 days with my eyes closed while icing. I mentally prepared myself by accepting this as to what I needed to do for the best results. I wanted the puffiness, swelling and bruising to be minimal, and also knew that I had to regularly wash, wipe the old laser skin and reapply Vaseline as was instructed, so I stationed myself on my bed with small ice cubes in a bowl, gauze wipes, mini baggies, and an iPod with headphones.
The iPod and headphones helped me make better use of the time I had to be ‘blind’ while I was icing my eyes. Except when I was washing and reapplying Vaseline or sleeping I sat in my bed slightly reclined with ice packs on my eyes all day. I had taken free meditations off of iTunes from Stin and Mediation Station, and also bought some others I liked from Stin’s personal site and put them on my iPod to listen to while recovering. I figured I might as well recondition how I ‘see’ the world from the inside, while my eyes were healing and I sort of ‘zenned-out.’ My family was prepared for this, and it was fairly easy because the youngest I have is a teen and so, father and son could pretty well ‘fend’ for themselves.
The day after the operation I made a drive to Dr. Chernoff’s office for him to examine the progress – I got an A+, he said. I was determined to, ahead of time, and so I was not surprised. I believe positive thinking, preparing ahead, ‘seeing’ yourself doing it, and the end result in your minds’ eye, is all part of the success. Not to mention you are getting the best doctor team available!
It has now been over a month since the procedure, and I am thrilled with the results thus far. I am told that over the next 4 to 6 months there will be more of an adhering of the skin to muscle, and so more tightening and further positive results. I enjoy my new eyes completely and safely can recommend the Chernoff team, if you are considering having the eye lift procedure done.
