Who Is a Candidate for a Mini Facelift?

As you get older, your face starts to naturally show the signs of aging. Many people turn to a full facelift to correct facial aging, but you may not yet need this procedure. A mini facelift from Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery is a less invasive alternative to a traditional facelift.
The way Dr. Chernoff lifts the skin also gives it the alternative name of S-lift, and it often gets referred to as the weekend lift, since you can go home the same day you are treated. The following criteria will help you determine if a mini facelift is right for you:

You Have Minimal Signs of Aging

If you are satisfied with your forehead and brow line, but notice an issue with the jawline, or you have moderate wrinkling, a mini facelift may be for you. Excessive sagging or banding of the neck muscles should be addressed by a full facelift.
Be aware that the treatment only treats the lower and middle face, so wrinkles could still develop around the eye and forehead area. Treatments such as Botox® may be able to address mild wrinkles.

You Are in Your 40s or 50s

While older clients can get mini facelifts, people in their 40s and 50s are the common age group for them, since the aging frequently occurs in the middle of the face. The procedure can likewise prevent younger patients from needing more invasive treatments as they age, or help them delay it. Since younger people usually have not developed skin laxity, the change is less noticeable.

Older candidates tend to have greater skin laxity, which has on impact on visible results. However, some clients in their 50s or older could be good candidates for the weekend lift, if they have kept in shape making them less likely to have sagging skin.

You Are Looking for Convenience

A full facelift commonly requires two or more weeks of recovery, but you may not be able to take that time off work. In most cases, the mini facelift is an outpatient surgery done under local anesthesia, and lets you return to normal activities in five to seven days. Unlike the traditional facelift, you may not have to recover from general anesthesia, which is a benefit for those who have concerns.

Full facelifts are safe procedures with only a 2% risk of complications, but the weekend lift has even less risk of serious complications. The mini facelift results in less scarring as well. Results show much faster after a weekend lift than the full procedure.

A mini facelift is a great option to restore the face without undergoing a full facelift. We offer both of these procedures at Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery in Indianapolis, Indiana, so if you are interested, contact our office today to schedule your consultation!
